My 2005 Prius emergency triangle started visually yelling at me a few weeks back and I didn't know what it could be. The folks at Autozone let me know my hybrid battery needed replacing. After a few estimates from a few places, it started to sound like a $3000 job. Luckily, I found Rod's Japanese Auto Repair before I stopped calling around. I spoke with Jeffery -- he told they had a process to fix my existing battery for half the cost AND with a warranty so I made an appointment for the next day. First of all, the shop itself was really nice! I got some remote work done on a comfy couch while I waited, though I was offered a ride. There was a great kids area (with tons of toys, books and a few giant stuffed animals). Best of all, everyone was really kind and easy to talk to. Hell, even the coffee was good. :) After a long and detailed diagnostic (with photos that were emailed to me of my embarrassingly gross filters -- I may not be great at upkeep), I agreed to the big fix on the battery and went home in a complimentary rental car. When I picked up my car today, my bill was $100 less than what was estimated -- and they'd left me a nice gift basket of goodies and coupons for the shop in my passenger seat. The car runs so great and everyone was, again, so genuinely kind -- it was the best car fixing experience I've ever had. I highly recommend @rodsjapaneseautocare -- they saved me $1600 overall and were absolutely lovely while doing it.

Thank you so much Sarah for your kind words! I am so glad we were able to save you some money by Reconditioning your hybrid battery on yourr 2005 Toyota Prius. Than you for trusting in Rods team! I will be sure to share your review with the whole team! :) - Brittany

Thanks, again, for your friendly and professional attention to both my wonderful car and to me, your customer.

Great, attentive service. After making an appointment, I was assured there would be a loaner car available, which is a must with my busy schedule. Dropping off my car was a breeze and a text when my car is ready is always appreciated. A quick drop off of the loaner and I was on my way home in my well serviced car! Can't thank Rod and his crew enough for making automotive repair easy!

Better than expected. I've owned 3 Subarus and usually always go to a dealership. I tried rods out because they are close to my house and I had heard good things. I was not disappointed. They had my car done in day, and I had major work done. They had loner car for me to use, they were very professional, and accurate. Seeing the before and after photos of work they had done was very helpful and informative. They utilised all available warranies for the new parts and left me a very nice gift basket in my passenger seat upon getting my car back. Also they are very pet friendly. As odd as it may sound to some, but when I enter a business and am greeted by 2 furry faces it makes me feel at ease about what I'm walking into. Thank you rods for the great service, and I will return, even if it's just for an oil change.

Once again, excellent service! It's a testament to just how excellent that I take the time, and spend the extra money (about $50 per visit) to have our Subaru serviced at Rod's (I live in Friday Harbor, so it takes both time and money). Incredibly thorough, definitely trustworthy. So glad we discovered this shop.

Cannot say enough good things about the service I receive at Rod's. I came to Rod's to have my hybrid battery evaluated and found a place to have the whole car looked after in the most professional by folks who are always a pleasure to deal with.

I took my car in to Rods cause I had a noise on my passenger side wheel . They said I had to do a diagnostic, it cost me $90 dollars. After the diagnostic they gave me a list of around $4,000 dollars the car needed work on. Which is bonkers cause my car drove great, other than the noise on the tire area. But they did say it would cost $892. dollars to fix right drive axle, that made the noise. I took my car in to another auto place got a second opinion they said Rod made the wrong diagnostic and replaced a front wheel bearing for $435.00 dollars that fixed the problem. Went back to Rod's for a refund of $90 dollars for making a wrong diagnostics. They said they needed their mechanic to put their stethoscope on the car, before refund. Forget it, didn't want to waste my time, that was about 4 months ago and car is still running great and no noise. I gave them a star cause they are very nice and friendly people, but I would not go back there again even if they paid me.

We at Rod's always stand by our technicians diagnostics. We would never perform diagnotics, have a customer approve job, and then that job not fix the concern/issue and still charge the customer- that is a very wrong way to do business. Its very easy for us to go back months, even years because we take videos of concerns like this during our diagnostics that is always kept. You called and asked if you could have your money back without proving anything was replaced.. I asked you if you could come by any time that was convient for you, so we could confirm that they replaced the wheel bearing only, and not the axle bearing, or greased up the axle bearing for a temporary fix. I apologize if this may have not been conveyed to you this thoroughly over the phone. Please still feel free to stop by anytime so we can confirm. Thank you CJ. Brittany - GM
